  • The List Slam

Drawing on unique research into the habits of listmakers, Sasha gives a presentation on what our lists say about us (she’s given it at Google–you can watch it here). At the conclusion of her presentation, she invites audience members to read their own lists. A “List Slam” is like a poetry slam, but people read lists on a range of topics rather than poetry. A List Slam is always engaging, funny, and memorable.  It’s a great way to get to know fellow members of your organization or your co-workers, and it’s an excellent icebreaker in an orientation or a conference.

  • How to Start Your Own Holiday

Using this video as an entertaining instructional tool, Sasha shares secrets and stories from the experience of starting her own holiday International Quirkyalone Day, a holiday that has now been celebrated in more than 40 cities around the world. International Quirkyalone Day is an alternative to Valentine’s Day that celebrates all forms of love and is inclusive of everyone: single, coupled, divorced, married. This talk about International Quirkyalone Day, or IQD, is inspirational example for anyone seeking to market a new idea or business, and offers an inside look at how Sasha built a new holiday from the grassroots using social media and organizing tools.

  •  The Quirkyalone Nation

This talk is all about the growing acceptance of single life. Before Sex and the City made being single mainstream, fashionable and cool, Sasha identified an emerging trend of people who prefer to be single rather than settle, and gave this demographic a name: quirkyalone. A University of Chicago study found that on average, most Americans will now spend more than half their adult lives in a single or dating state. The quirkyalone point of view has growing relevance for more and more of us who are spending our lives single. In this talk, Sasha gives a view into who quirkyalones are and whether they are born or made. The question and answer discussion always leads to a lively discussion about singleness, relationships, and our culture at large.
